BEHIND THE GROOVES: a music blog by Jeff Harris

On this day in music history: May 15, 1987 - “Girls, Girls, Girls”, the fourth studio album by Mötley Crüe is released. Produced by Tom Werman, it is recorded at One To One Recording, Rumbo Recorders, and Conway Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA from November 1986 - March 1987. Taking a step away from the more glam rock sound of their previous albums, the album is recorded during a time when all of the members are fighting alcohol and substance abuse problems. In spite of this, the sessions will produce some of the band’s best material and is their most successful album to date. It will spin off three singles including “You’re All I Need” (#83 Pop) and the title track (#12 Pop). “Girls, Girls, Girls” will enter and peak at #2 on the Billboard Top 200, and will be certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA.
